The Wright choice

A NORTHSIDE girl will be bidding to become the 68th Miss Ireland later this month when she competes with 21 other stunners for the much-coveted beauty title.

Last month Eve Ryan (19), from Portmarnock, was crowned Miss Wrights Café Bar, beating off the strong claims of 10 other girls for the local title.
If Eve is crowned Miss Ireland at the Crowne Plaza, Santry, on August 28, she will represent her country at Miss World in Sanya, China, in December.
Eve, a granddaughter of golfing legend Christy O’Connor senior, says she was
“absolutely over the moon
? when she heard she had won the Miss Wrights Café Bar title in Swords.
“I couldn’t stop smiling,
? she says.
“I was awake half the night with excitement.
“I’ve always known about Miss Ireland and have wanted to enter, so when I saw an advertisement on Facebook the day before the competition I jumped at the chance.
?
Despite her tender years, Eve, a qualified make-up artist who studied at the Waverly Academy, is no stranger to success in beauty competitions.
“When I was 15 I entered a beauty pageant in London,
? she recalls.
“I thought it would just be a great experience and a bit of fun. I won the competition and was delighted.
“Ultimately I would love to win the Miss Ireland competition. It would be amazing to represent my country at Miss World.
“I’m looking forward to meeting all of the other contestants and hopefully make some friends for life.
?
While all her focus is understandably on Miss Ireland, Eve’s future plans involve carving out a career in modelling, and she has already made a promising start in that direction.
“I’m currently signed with Catwalk Modelling Agency and I have modelled on Xposé and Ireland Am which I loved,
? she says.
“Eventually I would love to have a successful career in modelling, start my own fashion blog and travel the world.
“I love all aspects of fashion and I’m going to college in September to study fashion and design.
?
Eve believes that winning competitions like Miss Wrights Café Bar can help open doors to a successful career.
“Only recently I watched three previous Miss Ireland winners on
‘Saturday Night With Miriam’,
? she says.
“They were saying how many doors it opened for them and how it was a stepping stone for their careers.
?
The keep-fit fanatic has a personal trainer who works with her twice a week and she manages to get to the gym most days. She also walks on Portmarnock beach every day.
Eve says her family is very supportive of her efforts to become Miss Ireland,
“especially my mom Jane
?.
“My granddad, John Ryan, from the White Sands Hotel in Portmarnock, is my biggest fan. He and my grandmother Marie are as proud as punch!
“My father works in Portugal as a golf pro, Peter O’Connor – son of Christy O’Connor senior, and I have a gorgeous little half brother, Christopher, who’s three-years-of-age.
?
Eve’s family, along with all her friends and admirers on the Northside, will be cheering her on, on August 28 and will be hoping that the judges will make the Wright choice!
