OVER 70 Northside scouts flew out from Dublin Airport to Japan last weekend as part of Scouting Ireland’s contingent to participate in the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Kirara-hama, Yamguchi City.

Fingal was represented by scouts from Skerries, Rush, Swords, Malahide, Portmarnock, Howth and Blanchardstown amongst the group of more than 300.

Alll of the scouts spent numerous months preparing and training to represent Ireland in what will be the scouting adventure of their lives. They will return to Ireland on August 16.

A World Scout Jamboree takes place every four years. It is particularly significant that it’s taking place in Japan this year given that it will held during the 70th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
