DEBRA Ireland receives donation from hospital fund
Dublin People 01 Aug 2015
DEBRA Ireland, the national charity that provides support services for those living with the genetic skin condition, epidermolysis bullosa (EB), was recently the beneficiary of a

?¬2,400 donation from the Hospital Saturday Fund.
The charity’s Community & Groups Manager, Susan Woodcock, received the donation from Craig Broome of HSF Health Plan, the trading company of the Hospital Saturday Fund at DEBRA Ireland’s office in Clanwilliam Terrace, Grand Canal Quay.
DEBRA Ireland supports over 300 families who are living with EB all over Ireland. EB is an incredibly painful and debilitating condition. Children who are born with it have skin so delicate that it tears and blisters at the slightest touch. Living with EB is incredibly tough, but through the charity’s Patient Support & Respite Services, patients and their families do not feel like they have to cope alone. Through holiday respite, peer support, family meetings and emergency respite the charity offers practical care which will help improve the quality of life for all patients and their families. The donation from the Hospital Saturday Fund will greatly help towards funding these services.
In 2014, the Hospital Saturday Fund charity paid out over
?¬1 million in donations and grants to medical charities for care and research, hospices and hospitals across Ireland and the UK.
Assistance was also given to individuals whose illness or disability has caused financial difficulties.
HSF Health Plan, the trading company of the registered charity, the Hospital Saturday Fund, has been trading in Ireland for over 65 years and is the leading health cash plan provider in the country. Surplus funds from HSF Health Plan go back into local Irish charities including hospitals, daycare centres, hospices and other charitable causes.
