A barrel of laughs on the Liffey

Earlier this week British Movietone uploaded a ton of old newsreels to YouTube, including some great footage of Dublin.
The newsreels show a side of the city that’s rapidly disappearing, with footage of Nelson’s Column, traffic jams of horses and bicycles and some unusual events that we’ll probably never see again.
One of those events is this clip, which shows a Tub Derby between city publicans sailing down the Liffey in various vessels that would give today’s health and safety officials heart failure.
