Retired doctors witness new health wave on Navan Road
Dublin People 26 Jun 2015
THREE retired doctors witnessed the future of medical care in Dublin 7 last week at the official opening of the new Navan Road primary care centre.

Dr Owen Carey, Dr Maurice Brennan and Dr Dympna Frawley built up their Navan Road practice over many years but the new facility will be able to provide more than they ever dreamed of.
The new Centric Health and Navan Road Primary Care Centre next to St Joseph’s School for the Deaf will provide a full range of HSE services, including physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, nursing, social work and psychology services.
The 35,000 square foot four-storey building, built at an estimated cost of
?¬4.5 million, will be staffed by two Primary Care teams who were previously based across nine different locations.
Centric Health say its primary care mission is to keep people healthy in their communities.
“We’re delighted to participate in this world-class primary care facility with the HSE,
? said Centric Health co-founder, Dr Moss Cox.
“Today marks a new chapter in the proud tradition of the Navan Road practice and we are very conscious that we are following in the footsteps of Doctors Carey, Brennan and Frawley who served this community so well for many years.
?
Minister for Health, Leo Varadkar, officially opened the new centre, which is the second in Dublin West following the opening of Blanchardstown Primary Centre last year.
“It’s a fantastic facility for local residents,
? he said.
“A third centre in Dublin West is now under construction in Corduff and will open next year.
?
Tánaiste, Joan Burton, described the new centre as
“a fantastic asset
? to people in the Navan Road and Ashtown areas.
“It’s a huge step forward in terms of providing quality health services for the local community,
? she continued.
“Since 2011 we have opened 44 primary care centres around the country, with another 34 currently underway.
“I want to commend those involved in establishing and developing this Navan Road centre.
