Free gala concert for city’s Christ Church Cathedral

The gala concert will feature participants from five choirs.

OVER 100 young people from five American and Canadian choirs are travelling to Dublin to perform a special free concert in the prestigious Christ Church Cathedral on Friday, July 3 from 8pm under the direction of renowned Professor of Music Rollo Dilworth.

Presented by KI Concerts, this special event is free to attend with donations to children’s charity, the Musical Youth Foundation welcomed. All funds raised on the night will help to fund the organisation’s free music education programmes for vulnerable young people in Ireland.

The concert will feature individual performances from the Augusta Children’s Chorale (Georgia, USA), Ecole Secondaire Neelin High School (Manitoba, Canada), Forest Ridge School of the Sacred Heart (Washington, USA), Texas Youth Chorale (USA) and Voices in the Laurel (North Caroline, USA) before a special grand-finale performance featuring over 100 voices from all five choirs. The event promises to be a truly special occasion and a fantastic opportunity to enjoy the ambience of one of the world’s most beautiful venues.

Rollo A Dilworth is Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities and Music Education at the North Park University School of Music in Chicago, Illinois. He also serves as director of the Music Institute of Chicago Children’s Choir.

The children’s charity is dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children in Ireland by providing opportunities for them to succeed and excel through the proven power of music education.

It was established in 2009 by Dublin City Soul Festival Founder Chris Maher. It operates a series of

‘guitars for kids’ programmes In Ireland, providing over 100 children with instruments, weekly lessons, practice sessions and specialist music workshops.
