THE choir of Scoil BhrÃde Boys and Girls National Schools in Blanchardstown played a very special role at a recent event honouring one of the world’s most important VIPs.

The young students sang for United Nation’s Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon, in Farmleigh where he was guest of honour at a dinner hosted by Tánaiste Joan Burton.
The pupils were invited to perform by the Tánaiste at the gala event and Ban Ki-Moon was entertained by the choir of both Scoil BhrÃde Boys and Girls Schools.
Conducted by principals John Kearns and Deirdre Kirwan, the students welcomed the VIP in ten different languages from around the world, as well as Irish and English, and sang a number of songs, including
‘Danny Boy’ and
‘Lean on Me’.
“It was great to have the choir of Scoil Bhride there for the event, and they sang beautifully,
? said the Tánaiste.
“The Secretary-General was definitely very impressed with their performance.
?
The Tánaiste formally welcomed Mr Ban to Ireland, and noted that this year Ireland marks its 70th year of membership of the UN.
“Irish people are proud of the major role we play in the United Nations,
? she said.
“Although small in size, the reach of our country is significant in terms of the contribution we make to supporting your crucial work.
