Stars in their Eyes is a big hit

LAST Saturday week (June 6) the Wright Venue in Swords hosted its first charity

‘Stars in their Eyes’ event and it proved to be a resounding success.
The event was a combined fundraiser, with funds supporting former Operation Transformation contestant Conor O’Connor to help with his forthcoming trip to represent Ireland in the World Handball Championships; and local children’s charity, the Laura Brennan Trust, who have raised over
?¬300,000 to date to fund medical treatment for local sick children.
Fourteen competitors, including members of Malahide Musical and Dramatic Society, sang songs from artists such as Tina Turner, Lady Gaga and Robbie Williams.

‘Adele’ scooped first prize with a unanimous vote from the celebrity judging panel.
Judges on the night included Karl Broderick, stylist Courtney Smith and Q102 DJ Debbie Allen. TV3’s Alan Hughes hosted the event, and the party continued till late in the Wright Venue’s Purple Room.
Suzanne Mulvey, event organiser for the Wright Venue, said the combined energy from the contestants, organisers and judges contributed to the night’s success.
Jean Gill deserves a special mention for choreographing the event, as does Conor O’Connor whose energy and unwavering enthusiasm ensured a great attendance on the night.
