Dublin People 05 Jun 2015BALBRIGGAN Harbour is to receive
?¬112,500 in funding as part of a national programme for the repair and development of piers and harbours. Alan Farrell, Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, said this was great news for the community in Balbriggan.
“In total,
?¬1.6 million in State funding has been allocated to the Local Authority Harbour Development and Marine Leisure programme,
? he said.
“I am delighted that Balbriggan Harbour is one of the 25 local authority piers and harbours set to benefit from this programme.
“The funding will be used for repair work to the outer harbour wall.
“This money that will be used for the repair and development of Balbriggan Harbour is crucial in terms of ensuring its long term sustainability.
“Seaside communities in the North County are proud of their harbours and we consider them to be a focal point of our local landscape. I am pleased that this investment is being made in the upkeep of Balbriggan Harbour.

“This programme forms part of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marines’ 2015 Fishery Harbour and Coastal Infrastructure Development Programme,
? he added.
“As part of the programme, the department co-funds up to 75 per cent of the total cost of approved projects, with the local authority providing the balance.
