Howth gig for broadcasting music legend

BROADCASTING legend Andy Kershaw will perform his acclaimed one-man show this Saturday, June 6, as part of the Howth Literary Festival.

Based on his acclaimed autobiography,
‘No Off Switch’, the two-hour performance will take place in the Abbey Tavern at 1.30pm.
Described as
“the finest British broadcaster, bar none
? by Stephen Fry, Kershaw started out as entertainment officer at Leeds University where he booked bands such as The Clash, The Ramones, The Pretenders, Bob Marley and the Wailers and The Boomtown Rats.
In fact, Bob Geldof was so enamoured with Andy he insisted that he present Live Aid to a worldwide audience of over two billion.
His broadcasting career kicked off with a short stint presenting legendary BBC music programme
‘The Old Grey Whistle Test’.
He was also tour manager, driver, roadie and guitar technician for Billy Bragg and worked with the Rolling Stones during their tour of the UK.
More recently, he has spent time as a war reporter, documenting firsthand the Rwandan genocide and visiting North Korea on four occasions.
Kershaw is currently a regular presenter on BBC1’s
‘The One Show’.
This Saturday’s show in the Abbey Tavern is being recorded for future broadcast and DVD.
