Golden Years tunes up for birthday bash
Dublin People 29 May 2015
MEMBERS and staff at a Northside senior citizens’ centre were in full voice when they celebrated their first anniversary with an X-Factor-style event.

Golden Years Senior Centre, based in and managed by Darndale Belcamp Village Centre, marked its first year in operation on May 22.
There was a great atmosphere at the event which saw a panel of judges give their views on the locals’ singing exploits.
The members had a fantastic afternoon with smiles and laughter all round. The catering class at the Discovery Training Centre made a cake especially for the occasion.
In 2014, Golden Years, which provides a comprehensive range of services for older people, opened a brand new centre. It provides 100 full day-care places per week and drop-in services for its 600 plus members. Golden Years is now a fully staffed centre, thanks to the Department of Social Protection Community Employment and Pobal Community Services Programmes.
Some of the additional services it provides include care and repair, social alarm installations, outreach services, chiropody, dance classes, art group, knitting group and it is continually growing men’s and women’s groups.
Nicko Murphy, PRO for the Darndale Belcamp Village Centre, said the centre is making a huge difference to the lives of older people.
“We are delivering high quality services every day and believe that Golden Years has had a positive impact on our community,
? said Mr Murphy.
“We would like to thank all our members for their continued support and belief in what we do.
“Our sincerest thanks also goes to all our volunteers and staff for their hard work and dedication. Without these people our services could not operate.
“Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us and made donations to our service, we are heavily reliant on generosity and goodwill.
?
Mr Murphy added:
“Our team are constantly fundraising to keep our services operating to the highest standard and we hope that you will continue to support us in our mission.
