Great local support for the Andy Morgan Foundation
Dublin People 22 May 2015
THE Andy Morgan Foundation is thanking Northsiders for some great support shown over the past few weeks.

The foundation was set up in memory of Santry man, Andy Morgan, who took his own life on New Year’s Eve 2010 and on Friday, May 15, supporters took part in a Candlelight Procession of Hope.
The procession from Cappagh House to St Canice’s Church in Finglas was organised to help locals remember loved ones lost to suicide, and to promote a message of hope to those struggling with depression or mental health issues.
The night started out with a speech about Steps, Promises and Hope to encourage people to take that first step towards asking for help, or to take a step through their grief.
There was also a promise that the Andy Morgan Foundation wouldn’t let them go.
Angie McEvoy of the foundation said everybody involved wanted to express gratitude to the local community.
“We would also like to say a huge thank you to the community choir CEOL who performed on the night,
? she added.
“They are amazing and helped bring some comfort to the families bereaved by suicide through the power of their music.
“We would also like to say thank you to the Gardai for supporting us on the night and ensuring we completed the procession safely, Mandy’s Dance School for walking with us and to Fr Michael Shields of St Canice’s church in Finglas for his kind words.
?
Angie also said the foundation wanted to say a special thank you to the community of Finglas for coming out and supporting each other and The Andy Morgan Foundation.
“We had one important message to spread on the night and it was hope and to let people know they are not alone,
? she added.
The Foundation is also thankful for a welcome cash boost from the Tesco Community Fund in Tesco Clearwater and recently picked up a cheque made possible by shoppers dropping blue tokens into the in-store cylinder.
The Andy Morgan Foundation has a drop-in centre in Finglas Village next door to Citizens Advice in the Crosscare building. The centre is open every Friday morning from 10am to 12 noon and the service is free of charge.
