IN THE DRIVING SEAT: Paul Deaton enjoyed a special day out at Clontarf Bus Garage.

THE victim of an unprovoked attack in Fairview Park last month was given a special day out last week courtesy of Dublin Bus.

Paul Deaton, from Marino, who has special needs, was hospitalised after being injured in the attack by a gang of thugs.

Ciaran O’Moore, a Sinn Fein councillor for the Clontarf Local Electoral Area (LEA), said he was sickened when he heard about the attack on a vulnerable young man.

“I wanted to arrange something special for Paul and I had heard he has a passion for buses,

? he said.

Cllr O’Moore arranged for Paul, who is a service user at St Michael’s House, to visit Clontarf Bus Garage.

“I collected Paul and his sister Linda and we set off for the depot,

? he said.

“From the moment we arrived all the staff from Dublin Bus treated Paul so kindly.

“Paul was presented with a gift bag, taken on a tour of the depot, given an exclusive bus trip and even got to help out at the depot.

Cllr O’Moore added:

“Well done to each and every member of the depot in Clontarf, from the management to the drivers. They gave a young man back a piece of his shattered confidence.
