MINISTER for Health, Leo Varadkar TD and Senator Catherine Noone have been confirmed as Fine Gael’s candidates for Dublin West in the next General Election.

The candidates were selected by members of the party at a convention held last week in Luttrelstown Golf Club.

Minister Varadkar was first elected to the Dáil in 2007. Prior to that, he served as a member of Fingal County Council from 2003. Since his election to Dáil ireann, the minister has served as party spokesperson for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, as well as Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport.

“I am grateful to the ongoing support of Fine Gael members in Dublin West,

? he said.

“I am proud of what this Government has achieved over the past four years and see much scope for greater achievements if we manage to secure a second term.

Senator Catherine Noone was elected to the Industrial and Commercial Panel of the Seanad in April 2011. She is currently Fine Gael Seanad spokesperson on European Affairs and is also a solicitor with expertise in the area of commercial litigation.

“I am honoured to have been selected alongside Minister Varadkar,

? she told members.

“Dublin West is a huge constituency. Over the past number of years we’ve seen a surge in the younger population and its needs have been a priority with the provision of new education facilities, as well as leisure amenities. I will be working closely with Minister Varadkar to ensure the people of Dublin West have their share of representation at Government level for the next term.
