Dublin People 24 Apr 2015A LEADING international chemical company has officially opened a dry ice manufacturing site in Santry with an initial workforce of five employees.
Most of us associate dry ice with the entertainment industry but Norwegian-based Yara Ireland also provides its product across a variety of sectors including aviation, refrigeration, food storage and medical services.
The new plant has a capacity to create up to 10,000 tonnes of dry ice every year. Yara’s Petter Ã?stbø explained the company’s decision to base in Santry.
“While Yara have been operating for some time in Ireland, we decided to invest in this new strategically located manufacturing site in Dublin to serve the Irish market on demand, in small or large quantities, of dry ice as required,
? he said.
The Norwegian Chargé d’Affaires in Ireland, Sølve Steinhovden, was welcomed to the plant last week by Irish and Norwegian Yara personnel and the official opening was presided over by representatives from IDA Ireland.
Speaking at the official opening, Market Manager of Yara Ireland Gerard Dore said:
“Yara is committed to being the best dry ice producer in Ireland in terms of product quality and delivery service and today’s official opening of the manufacturing site here is testament to this fact.
“There are currently five employees on site and we expect this figure to grow as the business scales to meet market demand for our solutions.
