Local woman makes mini marathon appeal
Dublin People 27 Mar 2015
A LOCAL mother, whose two children have cystic fibrosis, is calling on women across the Northside to take part in this year’s VHI Women’s Mini Marathon.

Zoe Woodward, from Balgriffin, is urging women to join Cystic Fibrosis Ireland’s
‘One in 1,000’ campaign for the June bank holiday Monday event.
Zoe is hoping that one thousand women will come together and help raise vital funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.
The event is open to all levels of fitness with women permitted to run, jog or walk the 10K.
“I’ve been involved in the
‘One in 1,000’ campaign for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland for five years now,
? Zoe told Northside People.
“It’s really moving to see so many people taking part for the cause and caring about cystic fibrosis.
“These are people who are both directly and indirectly affected by cystic fibrosis but who all come together to raise incredible awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis Ireland.
“The day really does have a fantastic feelgood factor too with everyone coming together, having fun and making lots of new friends.
?
Zoe added:
“It’s a great reason to get out and get active and enjoy the long bright evenings ahead. C’mon girls, will you join me and be One in 1,000?
?
Philip Watt, chief executive of Cystic Fibrosis Ireland, is also calling on women to get behind the appeal.
“Cystic fibrosis affects more than 1,200 children and adults all over Ireland,
? said Mr Watt.
“While there have been positive steps in developing new treatments and providing appropriate facilities, we still have a long, long way to go.
?
Mr Watt said fundraising is a vital source of the organisation’s income.
“We hope to reach our target of 1,000 participants and make 2015 the best year yet for the campaign,
? he added.
“If each woman taking part raises
?¬100, we will reach a fundraising target of
?¬100,000.
