‘Big data’ firm to bring ten new jobs to Blanchardstown
Dublin People 27 Feb 2015
TEN new high-tech engineering jobs are to be created at a new cutting edge data centre in Blanchardstown.

TelecityGroup Ireland’s new centre will open this summer at Northwest Business Park in Ballycoolin.
The company currently employs 60 people in Dublin across three world-class data centre facilities.
The fourth data centre will host international, national and metropolitan data carriers, ISPs and content distribution networks, which provide access to transatlantic connectivity.
The centres are aimed at attracting US companies expanding into Europe who are looking for a European base.
Maurice Mortell of TelecityGroup explained why the company is expanding.
“We have seen a significant increase in demand from new and existing customers for high capacity, diverse and low latency connectivity – especially to the United States,
? he said.
“It was this high demand for TelecityGroup data centres in Ireland that drove our major expansion in Ireland in 2011. Since this expansion just over three years ago, our business in Ireland has grown considerably.
“This new Dub 4 data centre is further testament of this success.
?
Northwest Business Park was selected as the location for the new Dub 4 data centre due to its extensive connectivity options, its secure location and its proximity to TelecityGroup’s existing Dub 3 data centre, enabling a
‘campus extension’ from one facility to another.
The company say this helps to support the facility’s operational resilience and ensures customer demand for expansion is met.
Last week’s announcement was welcomed by Tánaiste and Dublin West Labour TD Joan Burton, who described it as
“a further boost to the area’s reputation as a hub for world-class IT and technology companies.
?
“This is a very positive addition to the cluster of dynamic, high-tech companies based in Blanchardstown,
? she said.
“I wish all at TelecityGroup the very best with this expansion.
“This additional investment is a boost for Dublin West as a hub for major IT and digital companies, coming on the back of a number of significant jobs announcements in the past few months.
“Along with an expanding IT Blanchardstown nearby, we are well placed to secure more good jobs for Dublin West.
Local TD and Minister for Health Leo Varadkar also welcomed the new jobs at TelecityGroup.
“I’m very pleased that the company chose Dublin West for the new facility,
? he said.
“The ten jobs will be engineering positions and will open this summer.
“The data centre will specialise in
‘big data’ which is a growth area being targeted by the Government.
“
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton, said Big data was a sector specifically targeted under the Government’s Action Plan for Jobs.
“In recent years we have seen significant growth in this area,
? he added.
“The annoucement that TelecityGroup is establishing another data centre in Ireland is a very welcome move.
“I wish Maurice and the team every success with this investment.
?
It’s expected that the new data centre will attract companies in digital media, online retail, payments and the financial sector as new customers.
