IT promises to be a case of

‘From Russia With Love’ in Dublin this Valentine’s Day (1.30pm), when Cllr Mannix Flynn, representing the Lord Mayor, launches the Dublin Festival of Russian Culture at Dublin City Gallery, The Hugh Lane.
The festival will open with a concert of Russian classical music at the gallery and a week-long programme of events in various locations throughout the city, from February 14-22, will follow.
Now in its sixth year, the festival is a celebration of the very strong Russian culture and community in Dublin and showcases music, dance, art and history in a wide range of events.
Concerts, literary talks, competitions, music workshops, exhibitions and lively performances are just some of the events taking place.
Cllr Flynn said the festival offers Dubliners a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the delights, wonders and mysteries of the great Russian culture.
“From classical music to art to family events there is plenty for everyone to enjoy,
? he said.
“The festival is part of Dublin City Council’s programme of year-round family friendly events.
A number of Dublin City libraries will screen a selection of Russian films and film adaptations of Russian novels.
The Central Library will host a workshop on Peter Tchaikovsky, one of the best-known Russian composers, whose 175th anniversary will be celebrated this year.
The National Concert hall will have two concerts of Russian Classic Music by the National Symphony Orchestra and Violinist Ray Chen. Tickets available at www.nch.ie
