FOUR units of Dublin Fire Brigade were called out to tackle a blaze in the Senior Citizens complex at Ard na Meala, Ballymun, in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6.

The units were responding to an emergency call made at 2.20am and got the fire quickly under control.

There was extensive damage to one unit in the complex but nobody was injured and fire tenders left the scene just after 4am.

Ballymun Sinn Féin Coulcillor, Noeleen Reilly, has called for an investigation into the incident.

“I got a call from a concerned resident first thing in the morning about the fire,

? she said.

“I am happy no one was injured in the fire. However, Dublin City Council and the Gardaí need to conduct a full enquiry into the circumstances around the fire to determine what happened and ensure no such accident happens again and people’s lives are not being put at risk.

“I spoke to the Gardai at the scene who were waiting on fire forensics to come out to start the investigation.
