Local student to represent Ireland in competition

A NORTHSIDE student will travel to Argentina this week to represent Ireland at an international science competition.

Darragh Glynn, from Clontarf, a Transition Year student at St Paul’s College, Raheny, won a gold medal at the Irish Junior Science Olympiad in DCU on November 1.
As a result of that success, Darragh, along with two other gold medal winners and three silver medal winners, will travel to Mendoza this Sunday, November 30 for 12 days to represent Ireland at the International Junior Science Olympiad.
This is a science competition for students who are under 16 on December 31 and achieved a high standard in both Science and Mathematics in their 2014 Junior Certificate Examinations.
A total of 116 students from all over the country were invited to participate in the examination in DCU to select the overall winners to go forward to represent Ireland in the competition.
Darragh is one of six people that have been chosen on the Irish team.
