A NORTHSIDE man recently held a screening of his new film in Swords.

Scriptwriter Brian Gilloughley, from the Baskin, Kinsealy, co-directed

‘Life’s Shadows’ with Dave Duffy of Fair City fame.

Mr Duffy plays

‘Ollie’ in

‘Life’s Shadows’, an independent production, which runs for 53 minutes. All the cast provided their services free of charge.

The film tells the story of two brothers and a sister who were put into orphanages when they were babies, and how their time spent there affected them in different ways.

Mr Gilloughley said he got the idea for the storyline from listening to people telling their stories.

“I was shooting a short film five years ago and it had similar issues,

? he told Northside People.

“I met people and they told me their painful experience of being sent to an orphanage.

“The men and women I met were afraid to talk about their suffering, which could be verbal or violent abuse, and

‘Life’s Shadows’ relates to this.

In the film, one brother is an alcoholic, another ends up in a mental institution and their sister has a baby when she is young and ends up being married to a man who is very abusive.

“The film will go to festivals early next year and will be screened on TV,

? Mr Gilloughley added.
