A NORTHSIDE GAA club has been announced as winners of a competition that involved raising money and awareness for breast cancer research.

Skerries Harps are the proud winners of the Dublin Ladies’ Gaelic Football Association’s Pink Laces competition.

The Skerries club sold the highest number of pink laces in a competition which was open to all Dublin LGFA clubs.

Skerries Harps’ reward for their fundraising efforts was a training session with members of the Dublin Ladies’ Gaelic Football senior squad.

Lyndsey Davey, Niamh McEvoy, Olivia Leonard and Sarah McCaffrey were among the Dublin players who visited the north county Dublin club for the session.

Pink laces are still available to purchase through www.breastcancerireland.com

They are priced at e5 each, with a total of e4.70 going directly to fund Breast Cancer Ireland’s pioneering research programmes.

Skerries Harps club secretary Chris McConvery thanked the players for a fantastic day.

“Their approach to the children and to the session was a credit to them and to Ladies’ Gaelic Football and I hope they enjoyed the day as much as the players and their mentors did,

? he said.

“Their visit made a lasting impression on our young players all of whom were thrilled to say they had a training session with senior Dublin players.
