Big day for new school

The Educate Together in Kishoge Community College opened its doors for the first time under the patronage of the Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board (ETB).

It is one of three new second-level schools opening in Ireland this year in which in Educate Together is involved as patron, joint patron or partner.

Ballymakenny College opens in Drogheda, and Hansfield Educate Together Secondary School opens in Dublin 15.

Dublin and Dún Laoghaire ETB and Educate Together have worked together to develop the management structure of Kishoge Community College.

The school aims to foster and support the formation of personal and academic skills that will enable young people to meet their full potential in modern life and society.

Addressing the 53 new first-year students of Kishoge CC, Paul Rowe, CEO of Educate Together, said:

“Educate Together and the Dún Laoghaire Education and Training Board recognise that for the 21st century student, learning how to learn, creativity and innovation skills are critical to future success in life and work.

“We are determined that this will be an outstanding and wonderful college.

Niall Hare, Principal of Kishoge CC, added:

“Kishoge Community College will provide an inclusive, co-educational and multi-denominational school experience with the most modern facilities and the highest educational standards.

“Using innovative approaches to teaching and learning, our ethos will be to promote the formation of life skills which enable young people to meet their full potential in society.

Kishoge Community College is based in temporary premises on Adamstown Avenue, Lucan – the site of Esker Educate Together National School, which is also moving to a new building on Esker Lane.

This new primary school building includes 16 large classrooms, a parents’ room, a multipurpose room for library/ computers and a new hall.

Externally, it boasts two basketball courts and a separate, soft-surface infant play area.

Meanwhile, Esker Educate Together NS primary school Principal Colette Kavanagh said she was thrilled and excited to accept the keys for their

“beautiful, state-of-the-art new building

? in Esker Lane.

“I am very excited to be moving forward into this next stage of our rapidly developing school,

? she said.

“I hope to continue to work with all members of our school community, and with the local community, to further develop and progress our wonderful school for all those whom it serves.”
