Local kids star in Disney musical

FLYING carpets, magic lamps and wish-granting genies are all promised from a new production of Disney’s Aladdin Jr at The Helix this week.

The family show stars children and teenagers aged 6-18 who took part in The Helix’s Summer Musical Camp over the summer who’ll be joined on stage by a professional cast.

Loveable rogue Aladdin will be played by the handsome Donal Brennan while Amy Fidgeon will star as beautiful Princess Jasmine.

Evil Vizier’s shoes will be filled by Sean Gilligan and Joe Conlan plays the Genie of the Lamp.

The show will include hit songs such as A Whole New World, Friend Like Me, Prince Ali and Arabian Nights but it’ll be the young stars from the summer camp who’ll be really captivating the audience.

Aladdin Jr is the finale of the fourth summer musicals camp at The Helix run by Sean Gilligan Productions (SPG). The success of previous camps for The Wizard of Oz, Anne and Peter Pan over the last three summers saw children travelling from all over Dublin to take part.

This year’s camp ran from July 14 through till August 1.
