THE Finglas Youth Resource Centre (FYRC) recently ran a

‘Celebration’ festival to celebrate 10 years of youth work in the area.

The family event that was staged with support from Dublin City Council, showcased some of the work of the FYRC and included live music from young musicians who have grown up with the youth service.

Some have become performers in their own right through involvement in music events at the centre over the years.

There were also a variety of games for younger children such as

‘Hook a Duck’, waterbomb, rainbow twister and face painting.

Finglas’ first outdoor Silent Disco attracted those who wanted to stop by for an afternoon dance while the local Kempo Karate club and dance club, who use the premises at the FYRC, put on fantastic displays of skills and talent.

The FYRC Free Runners put on an incredible display of flips, summersaults and daring leaps and ran workshops throughout the day for those who wanted to try out this new form of street gymnastics.

The FYRC host activities and programmes for young people from the Finglas community between the ages of 10-21.

Youth workers engage in partnership with young people to enable them to learn new skills and provide a space for fun and meeting new people.

All parts of the festival were run by participants who have worked extremely hard over the past few months to plan and prepare a day of fun for everyone in Finglas.
