A CLONSILLA girl has been selected as the 2014 Dublin Rose.

Roisin Lyons will now go on to represent Dublin at the 54th Rose of Tralee International Festival in the Dome in Co Kerry this August.
Roisin was picked from 40 girls after a two-night glittering selection show in the Carlton Hotel Blanchardstown.
She now has just weeks to prepare for the 10-day festival in Tralee where she will join 31 other roses from around the world to enjoy what will be one of the most amazing experiences of her life.
Brian Ormond, who was acting as the MC for the Dublin selection, broke into tears after calling her name out on stage after he caught a glimpse of the reaction of Roisin’s father in the crowd.
Roisin was sponsored by Muscular Dystrophy Ireland as her father suffers from the condition.
The judging panel included Nuala Carey from RTE, Declan Meaghar, the Manager of Carlton Hotel and Susan Rose, the 2010 Dublin Rose.
Roisin will have wonderful support in Tralee as the whole of Clonsilla and her local GAA Club St Peregrines seem to be booking their tickets for the Dome in August.
Brendan Galvin, Dublin Rose Coordinator, said Roisin was a fantastic girl and the perfect ambassador to represent the other 40 contestants in Tralee.
“The whole Dublin Rose event was brilliant fun with all of the girls becoming such good friends over the course of the selection process which included many social events, nights out and of course the Gala Selection weekend in the Carlton Hotel,
? he said.
“The Dublin Rose has been held in Carlton Blanchardstown for the past four years and Roisin is the first Dublin 15 Rose since 2005.
?
Claire Lennon, the Dublin Rose for 2013, said Roisin will enjoy an amazing year in her life.
“The festival in Tralee is so much more than what you just see on TV,
? she said.
“My highlight was the Rose parade through the streets of Tralee with 40,000 people cheering us on and also going to New York to march in the St Patrick’s Day parade.
“But the most special thing that you get from the Rose of Tralee is the life long friendships that you make.
