THIS is turning out to be the best year for the world champion powerlifter, Arlette Bomahou.

The French native, who now lives in Sandyford, has just won her second world champion title in Dusseldorf.
Gaining a title in the Single World Powerlifting Championship was one of the biggest goals she had set for herself back in January.
“It was an incredible experience,
? Arlette revealed.
“I came second in the deadlifts unequipped with 167.5kg but it is a personal best in competition.
?
The lifter named Ayshea who came first and broke the world record at 190.5kg is a respected friend of Arlette’s based in Galway.
According to Arlette, the conditions were really tough at the venue as the temperatures topped 30 degrees.
“Keeping hydrated was key for this competition,
? she recalled.
“But I learned a lot at this competition. I know exactly what I have to do to become a better and stronger lifter.
?
Arlette has represented Ireland internationally within the Irish Drug Free Powerlifting Association since August 2013.
She won her first world champion title representing Ireland in 90kg+ category in November 2013.
The German Drug Free Powerlifting Federation (GDFPF) championship in Dusseldorf consisted of three tough days.
Overall 385 lifters came to compete and Ireland and France had the biggest teams with 90 lifters each, while other countries represented included Australia, Belgium, England, Estonia, Germany, Italy, Moldova, Russia, Switzerland, Ukraine and USA.
Thanks to the success she has enjoyed in powerlifting Arlette decided to quit her job in Microsoft last April in order to pursue her dreams and get a career in sports.
Although it was a hard decision she thought it was time to make a move.
First she took a gym instructor and personal trainer course in the Elite Fitness and Performance Academy.
It was there that she realised she could really take her sports career to the next level and combine it with the passion for powerlifting.
