Darts player hits charity target
Dublin People 21 Jun 2014
A LOCAL darts player has brought his charity fundraising total up to e40,000 in just 14 months following another successful night at Doyle’s Pub in Phibsboro earlier this month.
Paul Davison from Ballymun, who works in event management, has generously given his time to organise several fundraising ventures and his latest event earned e1,805 for six-year-old Bianca O’Brien from Tipperary who was recently diagnosed with Leukaemia.
“I hope it helps a bit towards Bianca’s treatment on the road to recovery,
? he said.
Paul has previously organised events for Ballymun man David Cahill who suffered three major cardiac arrests on holiday in Crete and was left on a life support machine.
And on June 6 he arranged for former world darts champion, Steve ‘Bronzed Adonis’ Beaton, to come over from the UK to Doyles for a charity game to raise funds for little Bianca.
The night was another roaring success and Paul was quick to thank those whose support made it all possible.
“I’d like to thank everybody who donated spot prizes for the raffle on the night and to everyone that supported the event,
? he said.
“Without them the night would not have been possible and I’d like to thank the staff of Doyle’s for their hospitality and for allowing me to hold the event there.
?
Paul, who plays for a darts team at Doyles, is planning to hold another event for Bianca in the near future and will post updates to his Facebook page.
However, his next darts event takes place in the Regency Hotel, Whitehall, on August 9. Paul has been organising the Derek Lennox Memorial in memory of his Godfather who passed away in 2006 for the past three years and this will be the biggest event yet.
“The number of entries has increased from 64 to 128 and there’s a prize fund of e2,700 to be won, so make sure to get down and support the day,
? he said.
There’ll be some big names from the world of darts taking part including PDC world number 12 Brendan
‘The History Maker, Dolan.
All funds raised from a raffle on the night will be donated to the Console Living with Suicide charity.
