MEMBERS of a Northside group put their best foot forward last week for a fundraising initiative.

In what has been dubbed the Donnycarney Camino, a group of staff and volunteers at Donnycarney Beaumont Local Care Centre for Older Persons, went on a fun walk from their premises at St John’s Court to the wooden bridge in Dollymount and back again.

The fundraising sponsored walk was in aid of the centre which was founded in 1978. The aim of the centre is to provide services such as meals, and activities including tai chi, exercise, wellness programmes, computer classes, bowls, bridge, bingo, and chiropody, which all support the older person in their wish to remain living independently.

The organisers were delighted with the event’s success. It is hoped that the walk will become a regular part of the social diary of all the centre’s supporters.
