Sofa firm DFS gets comfy with Gaisce

BLANCHARDSTOWN based sofa retailers DFS has teamed up with President’s Award providers Gaisce to increase participation in the programme for young people aged 15 to 25.

Gaisce is the most prestigious award available for teenagers and young adults and DFS hopes the new partnership can help encourage hundreds more participants to take the Gaisce challenge.
The partnership was launched by GAA hero and Gaisce Board Member, Donal Ã?g Cusack and TV3’s Lisa Cannon with the help of young Gaisce participants including Grant Tucker and Lisa Hetherston of DFS Blanchardstown in Ticknock on the Dublin Mountains.
DFS HR Director Andrew Stephenson explained why the furniture giants had got involved with Gaisce.
“DFS is a company with a strong Corporate Responsibility ethos,
? he said.
“We partner with the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the British Heart Foundation and Children in Need in the UK. It is only fitting that we extend our philanthropic tradition to Ireland.
“As a Gaisce Gold partner we look forward to working closely with the charity to help young people have a better chance in life.

Gaisce’s goal is to contribute to the development of all young people through the achievement of personal challenges. Currently there are over 20,000 new applicants to the award programme each year. Over 300,000 young people have benefitted from the award over the past 27 years.
