Special thanks from one legged rapper

Jamie Jay Car will donate proceeds from sales of #oneleggedrapper on iTunes to Cappagh Hospital.

AN AMPUTEE from Finglas who made a comedy rap video that pokes fun at his disability has now released the track on iTunes in an effort to raise funds for the hospital that has cared for him all his life.

Jamie Carney, AKA Jamie Jay Car, uploaded the hilarious #oneleggedrapper video he made earlier this year to YouTube and it’s received a tremendous response after being viewed thousands of times.

The video is shot at various locations around Finglas and it started getting attention as soon as he shared it on Twitter and Facebook. And while the topic may have raised a few eyebrows Jamie has been delighted with the response.

“Obviously when you put yourself out in the public eye you’re going to get a bit of stick from some people and that’s to be expected but overall the reaction is brilliant,

? he said.

“There’s people ringing me who I haven’t seen in years telling me they loved it. Some people who know me are a bit shocked because I used to be quite shy in regards to my leg and my disability but now I just really don’t give an F*** anymore. I just do what I want for the laugh.

“Some people think it’s too much but I enjoyed doing it and if I want to mock myself for the laugh then surely I have that right.

Jamie was born with a birth defect that meant he’s had a prosthetic leg ever since he was just 13-months-old. As he got older, he had to attend Cappagh Hospital every time he outgrew the leg for a replacement but he’s so grateful for the treatment he got he’s decided to release his popular tune on iTunes to raise funds as a way of saying thanks.

“Each year I would have to get fitted with a new prosthetic right leg as I got bigger,

? he said.

“This meant I had to learn how to walk again every year up until last year as I am now 23 and fully grown.

“But it was all made so easy by the people of Cappagh Hospital, which is the reason why I have recently put it on iTunes. All proceeds I make from sales on iTunes I will be given to Cappagh Hospital as it’s very close to my heart.

“I’ve spent all my life in and out of that hospital and the people there have been so good to me.

Jamie admits he’s no rapper but once he got the idea for his #oneleggedrapper video he couldn’t resist roping in a couple of pals to help him make it.

“I make YouTube videos for the craic and I do the odd bit of comedy and I’ve had the idea for ages so I just said, go on I’ll do it,

? he says.

“I’m not a rapper by any means. It’s just purely for the comedy element.
