Northside students win prizes in art competition

SEVEN Northside students have won top prizes in this year’s 60th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

This year, two joint second prizes (e350 each) were presented in the 14-15 years age category – one of which was won by 14-year-old Grace Dolan, a pupil at Holy Faith Secondary School, Clontarf, for her Louis le Brocquy-esque work entitled

‘Sheep’. Grace was a Special Merit Award winner in 2011 and a first place winner in the 12-13 years age category in 2013.

Other Northside winners, all of whom will receive a Special Merit Award, Joshua Dyson (15), Mount Temple Comprehensive, Clontarf; Ewan Power (11), Belgrove Senior Boys’ School, Clontarf; Conor McCauley (14), Gaelcholáiste Reachrann, Donaghmede; Nic­ole Jackson (9), Burrow National School, Sutton; Anna Martin (7), Scoil Neasáin, Harmonstown; and Barra O’Reilly (7), Glasnevin Educate Together.

Prizes will be presented at an awards ceremony in Dublin this month when all of the 127 top prize winners will be in attendance.
