NORTHSIDERS are being urged to snap up the opportunity to take part in a fundraising event for the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (ISPCC).

The Irish Professional Photographers’ Association (IPPA) National Portrait Day will take place on Saturday, March 29.

Sponsored by Canon Ireland, the event kicks off a week long campaign celebrating top professional portrait photography with all proceeds going to the ISPCC.

From March 29 to April 5, members of the public can have their professional portrait taken for e25 in various studios in Dublin who are giving their time for free. One hundred per cent of all monies go directly to the ISPCC.

The event, which was formerly known as Happy Faces is organised annually by the IPPA in aid of a chosen charity. Now in its eighth year, the campaign raised over e60,000 for charity in 2013 and it is hoped that this amount can be topped this year.

Whether you want to add some genuine quality portraits to the family album or perhaps get that perfect shot of yourself, it’s an ideal time to take advantage of this fantastic offer for a worthy cause.

Chairman of the campaign, multi award winning professional photographer, Brendan Lyon from Clontarf, said he was delighted to be working with Canon Ireland on the event.

“This is a unique opportunity for the public to experience excellence in portraiture at studios nationwide,

? said Mr Lyon.

“I, and many members of the IPPA look forward to welcoming people into our studios and locations over the week and I would urge everyone in Dublin to get behind this event.

“All IPPA members are professional, qualified and insured photographers, so members of the public can be assured of a quality portrait, a photograph that you simply cannot take yourself at home using a point and shoot camera or a mobile phone.
