Event raises funds for Arthritis Ireland
Dublin People 23 Mar 2014
MEMBERS of the Students’ Council at a Northside school recently organised a Non Uniform Day in aid of Arthritis Ireland.
The students at St Joseph’s CBS, Fairview, believed that Arthritis Ireland was a most deserving cause for a fundraiser.
The members chose a day during the Christmas exams in December 2013. It proved to be a success with the Students’ Council raising e230, a contribution which will help Arthritis Ireland to continue to help people with the disability. The St Joseph’s CBS donation will go towards adolescents who suffer with arthritis.
The cheque for e230 was handed over to Laura Hickey and Orla Kerbey on March 14 in Joey’s!
Arthritis is a debilitating disability that affects around 915,000 people.
Arthritis Ireland organises various events for teenagers who have the condition. The JA road-trip is a prime example. It allows teenagers to discuss their illness and discover different pain management techniques.
It also organises a number of activities and this gives teenagers an opportunity to try things they thought they could never do due to their condition.
Arthritis Ireland also runs frequent workshops to demonstrate new ways of dealing with pain, and also helps people to cope with the problems they may encounter.
