A MEMBER of a Northside camera club has scooped top prize in a national competition.

Patricia Ronan, from Malahide Camera Club, was named the overall winner for her image, entitled
‘A Glance’, at the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) Print & Projected Image competition in association with Canon Ireland.
Patricia, who will receive a
?¬2,000 Canon voucher to spend on products of her choice, said she was
“absolutely thrilled
? to have done so well in the IPF National Print and Projected Image Finals.
“The winning image was taken about a year ago with a 100mm macro lens,
? she told Northside People.
“I joined the Malahide Camera Club about 10 years ago as a complete novice photographer. For many years previous to that my hobby was painting, oils, watercolours and acrylics.
“I became interested in photography while taking images to paint; I joined the camera club to learn more about the subject and got completely hooked. I don’t specialise in any area of photography. I like to dabble in everything, landscape, still life, portrait, street and macro.
?
Patricia thanked sponsor Canon for their extremely generous prize money.
“I am really looking forward to investing in some fabulous new camera gear in the very near future,
? she added.
Jonothan Sultan, marketing manager, Canon Ireland, said they were delighted to be associated with this prestigious competition.
“The standard was extremely high and is testament to the passion and enthusiasm for photography in Ireland,
? he stated.
“The judges had a tough decision to make but Patricia’s picture is a worthy winner and truly demonstrates Canon’s core brand vision –
‘Power of the Image’.
