IT’S set to be another magnificent summer of music in Marlay Park, with US rapper Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, as well as Arcade Fire, set to take the stage later this year.

Arcade Fire will headline a major gig on June 29 with iconic Boston rockers

‘Pixies’ supporting.

The Canadian Alt-Rockers enjoy strong support in Ireland and the concert is due to be a highlight of the summer series of gigs.

Meanwhile, the Pixies have been delighting their dedicated fans by playing all the old classics in a series of gigs across Europe in recent months, that included two sold out shows in Dublin’s Olympia Theatre late last year.

They will be closely followed by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis taking centre stage when they perform in Marlay on July 10, along with very special guest, Ellie Goulding.

Outspoken Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have been electrifying audiences since they shot to fame with their hit single

‘Thrift Shop.’

After stealing the show at this year’s Grammy Awards, the concert is dubbed as a show

‘not to be missed’.

Tickets went on sale from Ticketmaster and other usual outlets at the weekend.

Since 2000, Macklemore has collaborated with producer Lewis and single

‘Thrift Shop reached number 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 2013.

Known for electrifying live shows, expertly crafted music and innovative music videos and media, the duo use their influence to promote important issues like gay rights, which is highlighted in Macklemore’s song

‘Same Love.’

Ellie Goulding, who is currently burning up Irish radio waves, is set to play a sold out gig in Dublin’s O2 in March before her big gig with the boys in Marlay.

She made headlines last week when she said she will refuse to perform for President Putin in protest at Russia’s anti-gay laws.

The chart-topping English singer said she would follow the example set by Cher, who rejected an approach to perform at the opening ceremony for the Sochi Winter Olympics as a protest against legislation which makes it illegal to teach under-18s about homosexuality.

Goulding, who has sold five million albums, told the Hollywood Reporter:

“It’s probably a ‘no’ for Russia.

The 27-year-old previously expressed support for the Russian punk group, Pussy Riot, who were jailed on hooliganism charges.

With something for everyone in the eclectic line up at Marlay Park, it is set to be an invigorating summer of music on Dublin’s Southside.
