OVER 25,000 school children from across the country are expected to take part in this year’s Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) 23rd Annual All Ireland Schools Quiz.

The quiz has become a highly anticipated event on the school calendar and is run in over 300 venues in rural and urban communities.

The quiz consists of two

‘knock out’ stages and culminates in a national final that will be held in the RDS in early April 2014.

A total of 100 teams will compete in the national final.

Speaking at the launch of the quiz, ILCU President Martin Sisk said:

“We are absolutely thrilled to launch our 23rd Annual Credit Union Schools Quiz.

“For the past 22 years, the quiz has been hugely popular throughout the country and we expect this year to be no exception.

“We look forward to seeing our young qualifiers in the RDS next April, for what promises to be an exciting final and we wish everyone who takes part in the local and regional qualifiers the very best of luck.

Quiz Master for the event will be RTE’s Marty Whelan, who helped launch the event at St Brigid’s Primary School on Haddington Road.

Regional winners and runners-up will also receive prizes and their schools will receive cheques.

The national winner and runner-up receive a silver salver, significant personal prizes and their schools are each awarded a substantial cheque.

Every finalist receives a special certificate marking their achievement.

Registration for the 2014 Schools Quiz is open, and for registration forms or further information, contact your local credit union or visit the ILCU website at www.creditunion.ie.

Teams must submit their official entry form by Friday, January 17 to their local credit union.
