THE Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band has recorded a CD with all proceeds from its sales going to a suicide prevention charity.

Funds raised from Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band and Friends –

‘Monday Nights in Marino’ will be used to support Suicide or Survive’s (SOS) work to raise awareness of mental health issues in Ireland through the charity’s educational programmes.

The CD contains 11 tunes by the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band and includes recordings by the Dublin City Council Choir, the Band of An Garda Síochána, Kelly Birmingham, the Tallaght Youth Band and the bell ringers of Christchurch Cathedral

Originally launched in 2012, the CD was created to mark the 150th anniversary of Dublin Fire Brigade. SOS was chosen as the charity to benefit from its sales as many members of the Fire Brigade feel a deep affinity to the organisation.

As Christmas is fast approaching, both SOS and the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band are encouraging the public to consider the CD as a present for a friend or a loved one.

Mark Toner, a member of the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band, said they were delighted to be able to support Suicide or Survive.

“Mental health issues are more prevalent in Irish society today than ever before, and as we approach the festive season, which many people can find challenging, we hope the proceeds from our CD will help with the great work being undertaken by SOS,

? stated Mr Toner.

Caroline McGuigan, chief executive of Suicide or Survive (SOS), said they cannot thank the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band enough for its continued support.

“It’s efforts such as this which help towards breaking down the stigma associated with mental health issues,

? she said.

“The CD is a truly wonderful production, there is definitely something for everyone on it and we are humbled that the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band decided on us as their chosen charity.

“Christmas can be a very difficult time for many people and it’s at this time of year when we need to remember most that it’s okay to ask for help, nobody should suffer in silence.
