ONE of the year’s most eagerly anticipated GAA books has been published.

‘A Season of Sundays 2013’, sponsored by Carroll’s, celebrates its 17th year of publication. Once again, Ireland’s number one sports photography agency, Sportsfile, has produced another magnificent collection of images that captures the remarkable 2013 GAA All-Ireland season.

Among the images is a selection from Dublin’s season with the senior football team featuring prominently in the book as well as the back page after their incredible win in this year’s All-Ireland Football final.

The annual book has become an institution in itself and embraces the heart and soul of Ireland’s national games.

For the past 17 years Ray McManus and his leading team of award-winning photographers have captured the highlights, lowlights and off beat moments that make each year’s book an original and memorable keepsake.

‘A Season of Sundays’ is enhanced by the Head of Media Relations for the GAA, Alan Milton’s perceptive caption writing. It would make the perfect Christmas gift for any GAA enthusiast.

This year’s book portrays the magical and thrilling moments that helped define the 2013 GAA season from start to finish.

The much coveted front cover image this year sees All-Ireland final three-goal hero Shane O’Donnell being carried on the shoulders of his teammates as he lifts the Liam McCarthy Cup aloft.

While the Clare hurlers adorn the front cover this year, the book illustrates Dublin’s journey to lifting their second Sam Maguire trophy in three years.

Pictures from Dublin’s semi-final victory over great rivals Kerry and the final itself against Mayo are captured.

The coffee-table collection of images also pictures Cork’s one point win over Monaghan in the All-Ireland Ladies’ senior football final, completing an amazing three-in-a-row as well as a host of other remarkable scenes.

Ray McManus, from Sportsfile, said:

“A Season of Sundays is an album of memories and impressions from what has been an extremely exciting season.

“GAA fans will be able to relive all the great and memorable moments from the season which was filled with joy and heartbreak as well as an insight into the real spirit of GAA which makes our national games so important to us.

Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Liam Néill said:

“The passing of another memorable GAA season wouldn’t be the same without the publication of a

‘Season of Sundays’ and in its own unique way it brings down the curtain on another 12-month period of activity.

“What a 12 months it was too and we were fortunate that Sportsfile’s cameras were in situ week-in, week-out to capture the best images from a spellbinding season.

Mr O’Neill added:

“I laud Ray, his team and Carroll’s for their combined efforts in ensuring that we have this superb collection to enjoy for the 17th consecutive year.

Deirdre O’Neill, marketing manager at Carroll’s, said they have been proudly supporting the GAA since 1991 when the organisation first allowed sponsorship of county shirts.

“We are fully committed to giving back to the community and our sponsorship of the book is a further extension of Carroll’s involvement in Gaelic games,

? stated Ms O’Neill.
