Photography club reels off successful year
Dublin People 07 Dec 2013
A LOCAL photography club is preparing to bring down the curtain on a very successful year.
St Benedict’s Men’s Photographic Group enjoyed a very fruitful 12 months with members, Pat Carey, winning a gold medal from the Irish Photographic Federation (IPF) and Liam Haines receiving a certificate of merit for his audio visual presentation.
Four other members – Joe Duff, Fintan O’Mara, Clem Mason and Dick Burke – were successful in receiving their Licentiate Irish Photographic Federation (LIPF) in Thurles last month, as was Pat Carey in Waterford a few months ago. Pat was also shortlisted in the Irish Times Photographer of the Year competition.
The club was commissioned by the OPW to take photographs around Marino and surrounding areas and exhibit them in the Casino Marino.
The club also held exhibitions in Coolock, Raheny and Darndale and enjoyed a very successful visit to Ãras An Uachtaráin in June where they met President Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina.
Next up for the busy club is the annual Christmas dinner at Parnell’s GAA Club, Coolock, and they are currently putting together an exhibition of
‘Dublin by Night’ for Dublin City Council, which will be shown in City Hall early next year.
