THE MO’ THE MERRIER: Movember blasts into town with Mo Bro Josef Girgas smashing down barriers to men’s health and kicking off what’s set to be the hairiest campaign yet. Irish Mo Bros and Sistas can join Generation Mo by registering at www.movember.com

DUBLIN lads are being urged to get ready for the hairiest Movember yet as the sixth annual campaign gets underway.

Men (and some boys!) will be offering their upper lips for the month as billboards for men’s health by joining Generation Mo.

Irish

‘Mo Bros’ can register at Movember.com, start the month clean shaven then have the remainder of the month to rock a

‘Mercury’,

‘Lemmy’ or

‘Zappa’, to raise awareness and funds for men’s health.

The money raised in Ireland goes to the Irish Cancer Society and the Movember Foundation’s global research initiative Global Action Plan (GAP).

Girls can also get involved by becoming Mo Sistas.

Mo Sistas organise events, fundraise or simply support the men in their life by encouraging them to grow for the month.

Last year 17,250 Mo Bros and Sistas raised over e2.1 million for men’s health in Ireland. They joined over 1.1 million Mo Bros and Sistas across the world, who raised e113.5 million.

Amongst some of the gnarly men joining Generation Mo is Irish rugby international and Leinster player Cian Healy, Coronas frontman Danny O’Reilly, Irish rock outfit Wounds, MMA champions Cathal Pendred and Chris Fields and sporting funny men Ger Gilroy and Dave McIntyre from Newstalk’s Off The Ball.

Speaking about Movember Danny O’Reilly said:

“It’s great to part of Generation Mo. Who wouldn’t want to be part of something where men’s health takes centre stage for an entire month?

“I’m looking forward to rocking out a Mo for the first time ever. Remember to register at www.movember.com, and don’t Mo alone, get the lads involved and show your support for men’s health.

Some Movember advice and facts:

Once registered at movember.com each Mo Bro must begin his hairy journey on the Movember 1 with a smooth, clean shaven face.

There is strength in numbers, so start a team and don’t Mo alone.

The moustache is Movember’s ribbon – it’s the vehicle men use to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer initiatives.

Over 2,500 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer in Ireland each year.

One in eight Irish men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime.

Movember’s Global Action Plan (GAP) aims to accelerate prostate cancer outcomes by bringing together the best researchers from around the world.

GAP facilitates a new and unprecedented level of global research collaboration, not previously seen within the prostate cancer community.

Movember Ireland Country Manager Neil Rooney said:

‘Generation Mo is the culmination of five years of Movember and moustache growth in Ireland.

“As well as raising much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society’s initiative, Action Prostate Cancer, Movember continues to shine a light on the issue of Men’s Health in Ireland,

? he said.

“Movember gets men talking about health issues which results in early detection of prostate cancer’.
