Finglas Post Office to stay in village
Dublin People 27 Oct 2013
LOCAL councillors have received confirmation that Finglas Post Office is to remain in the village.

The news will be met with a huge sigh of relief to campaigners who had battled to keep the post office in the village. Local activists, businesses and politicions feared the current regeneration of the village would suffer a massive blow if the post office was relocated elserwhere.
Earlier this year An Post had put out a call for applications to run the post office but the deadline passed without any decision made. A campaign was started to keep the post office open and An Post extended the deadline.
Cllr Paul McAuliffe (FF) who organised protests supported by other public representatives and the Finglas Village Renewal Group to keep the post office open welcomed the news.
“I’m delighted that the process of renewing the village has not been undermined and that it was possible to accommodative the post office within Finglas village,
? he said.
“This is an example of another success achieved by bringing together everyone with an interest in the village.
?
Cllr McAuliffe said the news was confirmed in correspondence from An Post’s public affairs manager, Angus Laverty, and followed a process of appointing a new postmaster which took more than seven months.
“The process had caused a lot of concern to local retailers and residents who feared a drop in footfall if the post office moved,
? he added.
“There was a significant amount of pressure placed on the semi-state body by local businesses, residents and the new owners of the Finglas Village Centre.
