DOZENS of new jobs have been created in just one positive week for the Northside.

Super store Aldi opened their latest outlet on Mulhuddart’s Main Street last week, leading to the creation of 15 new jobs.

This latest Aldi store brings the total number in Ireland to 102, and is the sixteenth in Dublin.

Patrick Christie, the manager of Aldi’s Mulhuddart store, said each store opened so far has proved a fantastic success.

“We are looking forward to serving the local community,

? he declared at the opening last week.

Aldi says it has helped maintain over 22,000 jobs across the Irish food industry by tripling its annual spend on Irish products over the past five years.

“Since 2008 Aldi has almost doubled the number of Irish suppliers it works with,

? a spokesperson said.

“Over 50 per cent of Aldi’s supplier spend is with Irish suppliers, producers and manufacturers.

“All of Aldi’s fresh meats, fresh poultry, eggs, bread, flour, and many of its teas, coffees, soft drinks, waters and snacks come from leading Irish suppliers.

Local suppliers include Donnelly Fruit & Veg, which provides Aldi with a range of fresh fruit and vegetables and Wonder foods, which specialises in a selection of fresh salad bags and bowls, roast vegetable trays, stir fry vegetable packs and flavoured coleslaws.

Meanwhile, the Taois- each, Enda Kenny, was on hand to open a brand new, state-of-the-art eco-friendly data centre in Dublin 15 last week.

Constructed by Dataplex, which is led by CEO Eddie Kilbane and Chairman Colm Piercy, the B10 facility marks a e23 million investment phase.

The second phase is currently under construction after investment was secured for the expansion of the facility.

It is expected that Dataplex will create 25 jobs over the coming years to meet the growth plans of the company.

Dataplex provides a range of technical facilities and services to corporations, internet service providers, managed services providers, banks and multinational IT enterprises.

The new data centre is also the greenest in Ireland and has been designed, manufactured, supplied and engineered by Irish companies.

Chairman Colm Piercy said funding for the project had been secured through Irish equity investors and RBS Group.

“In its current phase, Dataplex will have invested in excess of e23 million into our B10 facility in West Dublin,

? he said.

“This demonstrates the commitment of Dataplex, the management team and the investors who are supporting this project.

He added:

“This Dataplex facility is the greenest and most environmentally friendly data centre anywhere in Ireland, and one of few market leaders in Europe, of which our team are extremely proud.
