THERE’S no shortage of sporting legends gracing the hallowed turf of Croke Park these days as the race for both Sam and the Liam McCarthy Cup intensifies.

And there was no shortage of well-known sports personalities either for the launch of this year’s

‘Support Your Colours Ball’ in aid of Temple Street Children’s University Hospital.

Leinster Rugby star Rhys Ruddock and GAA heroes Kieran McGeeney, Bernard Brogan, Stephen Cluxton and Ciaran McKeever descended onto the Croke Park pitch under the watchful eye of broadcaster Michael Lyster.

Sponsored by Mercury Engineering, the

‘Support Your Colours Ball’ will take place in the Cusack Suite at Croke Park on Saturday September 21, All Ireland Final weekend.

Tickets for this hugely popular event are only

?¬100 per person and all proceeds will go towards the purchase of vital life saving equipment.

The evening will commence with a lively reception at 7.30pm followed by dinner, live music and entertainment with plenty of sporting banter and a whole lot more throughout the night.

Guests, who are encouraged to wear their team colours, can expect to rub shoulders with an array of sports stars from all over Ireland who will

‘tog out’ to support this worthwhile event.

Denise Fitzgerald, chief executive of the Fundraising Office, said:

“The Ball is a celebration of Ireland’s sporting achievements and is a great way to spend the eve of the All Ireland Final. The atmosphere will be electric.

“We are very grateful to Mercury for their continued support again this year. On behalf of our special little patients – thank you.

Frank Matthews, director of Mercury Engineering, said they were delighted to be sponsoring the event.

“We have attended the ball in previous years and it is great night of sporting fun and entertainment,

? he stated.

“More importantly, it is about raising much needed funds for Temple Street.

“The ongoing work they do in saving and improving the lives of tens of thousands of sick children is invaluable and we are honored to show our support for this very special event.
