Lifeguards finish stint at beaches

FINGAL County Council has issued a water safety message to beach users after the official bathing season came to an end on September 1.

Beaches in Fingal will not have lifeguards present until the start of the new bathing season in June 2014.

A spokeswoman for the council said they strongly advise people not to swim when there is no lifeguard service, and to be extra vigilant when children are playing at the beach.

“Remember, if you’re using jet-skis/powerboats or surfing, boating, sailing or canoeing you should always wear a lifejacket and appropriate clothing (wet suit), and follow the guidelines issued by the Maritime Safety Directorate,

? she told Northside People.

“Dog walkers should ensure that dogs are kept under control, and please remember to clean up after your dog.
