Council welcomes litter survey results

FINGAL County Council has welcomed the most recent IBAL Anti-Litter League survey which reported very positively on both Swords and the Dublin Airport environs.

A number of the approaches to Dublin Airport, which are under the control of the council, were graded at

‘A’ and

‘B’ level with only the Naul Road from the M50 to Collinstown Lane grading at

‘C’.

The DAA controlled areas between the Airport Roundabout and set-down area were classified at grade

‘A’. Both sites earned an

“excellent

? remark in the survey.

Collinstown Lane was graded at

‘B’, with some food-related litter noted in the area. However, the survey noted that there was a general improvement at Swords Road from Collinstown Cross to the entrance at Turnapin Lane, also classified at grade

‘B’, and a significant improvement at Dublin Road from Cloghran Roundabout to the Airport Roundabout, now classified at grade

‘A’.

Swords scored particularly well, with eight top class sites and only two sites classified as bad.

Carnegie Court Hotel, Lidl, Pavilions Shopping Centre, Main Street, Swords Town Park and the three approaches at Dublin Road, Balbriggan approach and R125 Ashbourne approach road all classified at grade

‘A’.

The two grade

‘C’ areas (recycle facility at Watery Lane and also the Riverwalk) were heavily littered and, according to the council, will

“require attention to bring up to standard

?.

A spokesperson for the council said:

“Fingal County Council acknowledges all the hard work many organisations and groups put in to keeping their town clean and litter-free.
