Fingallians aiming for the perfect 10

FINGALLIANS GAA Club, based in Swords, is aiming for the perfect 10 with a festival of football they have lined up for this weekend.

On Saturday August 17, the figure 10 will be central to proceedings.
Ten teams of Under 10s will play 10-a-side matches for a duration of 10 minutes-a-side, and all starting at 10am.
The Fingallians event is being supported and endorsed by the Ladies’ Gaelic Football Association (LGFA).
The participating teams are:

?¢ St Brides GAA, Knockbridge, County Louth
?¢ St Colmcille’s GAA, Bettystown, County Meath
?¢ Ratoath GAA, Ratoath, County Meath
?¢ Arklow Geraldine’s, Arklow, County Wicklow
?¢ Garristown GAA, County Dublin
?¢ Clanna Gael/Fontenoy, Dublin 4
?¢ St Patrick’s GAA, Donabate
?¢ Fingallians GAA, Swords (two teams)
Fingallians’ Under 10 Girls’ manager, Liam Ã? Culbáird, said:
“We have been training towards this all year and the girls are really excited.
“The day will run from 10am to 3pm and we would encourage everybody to drop down to the club to see the high standards on display.

All-Ireland medal winner, All-star recipient and Fingallians/ Dublin player, Amy McGuinness, said:
“I wish these kind of events were there when I was at that age. This type of occasion really brings players along.
“It is an occasion that will stay with them for a very long time. Quite often it can be difficult for the rural clubs to get challenge matches so this type of event is brill. I wish them all the best.

Fingallians/Dublin star Paul Flynn said:
“These competitions are great for kids at this age group. I have seen them training and the standard of play is very high. I wish them well.

Fingallians GAA chairman John McGee said it’s their second year to hold the event and due to its success it will now take place annually.
“It costs us financially but we are willing to make the investment in our young players and we are delighted to be able to showcase the future stars of ladies’ Gaelic football,
? he stated.
