Jobs boost for Southside

A DECISION by one of the world’s leading IT companies to set up shop on the Southside has been hailed as a ringing endorsement of Ireland’s talented and dedicated workforce.

Last week it was announced that Salesforce.com, a top enterprise cloud computing company, which is headquartered in San Francisco, will employ 100 qualified professionals at its new state-of-the-art 50,000 square foot office complex in Leopardstown.

The company plans to hire qualified professionals in sales, marketing, IT and customer support.

Speaking at the opening of the company’s offices at No 1 Central Park, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the move by the US firm strengthened Ireland’s reputation in the digital sector.

“The company’s leadership in social, mobile and cloud computing aligns with the Government’s policy and Action Plan for Jobs in these fast growing sectors,

? he said.

“Ireland’s reputation as a European hub for the digital industry is growing rapidly as more businesses like Salesforce.com expand their operations here.

He added:

“This announcement that Salesforce.com is creating 100 new jobs in Dublin is a strong endorsement of Ireland’s strengths in the digital sector and of our talented and dedicated people.

The announcement was made as the Taoiseach visited the offices with David Dempsey, Senior Vice President for Salesforce.com Ireland, and Barry O’Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland.

Mr Dempsey said Salesforce.com was revolutionising the technology industry by showing companies the power of social and mobile cloud computing.

“Ireland has played a key role in our success in Europe,

? he said.

“We are delighted to be able to expand our reach in the region by hiring 100 more talented individuals in Dublin and opening a new office at No 1 Central Park.

Deputy Olivia Mitchell (FG)
said she was delighted that Salesforce.com was continuing to invest in high-end jobs on the Southside.

“It is fantastic that Ireland will continue to play a key role in the European success story of Salesforce.com,

? she said.

“Salesforce.com will be well served at No 1 Central Park where this well-established office headquarters has easy access to the M50, N1, the Luas green line and respected third level institutions, which can provide training and research services.

She added:

“This is a major vote of confidence in Dublin and a further boost to Dublin’s credentials as the internet capital of Europe.

Meanwhile, Dublin’s Lord Mayor, Cllr Oisín Quinn, has welcomed a decision by Irish Water to locate its headquarters in the city.

“Irish Water will be located in the heart of the Dublin Water Region which serves approximately 1.3 million water users, by far the most in the whole country,

? the Lord Mayor said.

“I look forward to working with Irish Water to ensure Dublin has a sustainable water supply into the future.
