Your voice needs to be heard for survey

DOES Dublin need a directly elected Mayor? Should local taxation be based on ability to pay or on assets such as property? Should people be more involved through social media in the decisions that affect them?

These are some of the questions on the future governance of Dublin, in a digital age, that are being asked in the fourth

‘Your Dublin, Your Voice’ survey of citizens.

This initiative of local government in Dublin allows citizens to influence the future of how their city is governed.

Speaking at the launch, Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Naoise Muirí, encouraged Dubliners to voice their opinions.

“This is your chance to really have your say,

? he said.

“Log on to www.yourdublinyourvoice.ie and let us know how you would like to see your city governed and funded.

“In a digital age we need to rethink how democracy works and citizens need to be involved in making decisions on a daily basis.

“Real power based on local taxation should be devolved to the capital city region.

“We need Dublin solutions to Dublin problems and not

‘same size fits all’ answers imposed nationally on Dublin.

Those who take part in the survey will be able to compete for a fantastic first prize of a one-night stay for two (including an evening meal) in the Westbury Hotel. Lots of quality runner-up prizes will also be on offer. The survey will close on Friday June 7 at 5pm.
