Blackrock school launches ‘Brick’ campaign
Dublin People 11 May 2013
THE parents, children and teachers of Newpark Comprehensive School in Blackrock have launched a

‘Buy a Brick Campaign’ to help pay for a new school building.
Later in the year classes will be moving into a temporary building in preparation for the project getting started.
However, as Department of Education and Science funding does not fully cover the fitting out of the building and facilities the costs will have to be picked up by the users of the campus facilities.
“We are therefore appealing for support from the parents and guardians of the school, night school, sports centre, music school and hockey club to raise the additional funds,
? a spokesperson for the Newpark Comprehensive PTA said.
“These additional items will include driveways and car parks, fitting out the canteen, additional classroom fit outs, and paying for science and computer equipment.
“Our aim is to make Newpark campus a centre of excellence in education, and to make the experience of all of us who use these great community facilities the very best.
?
“To do this, we need to raise a minimum of
?¬35,000.
“Purchasing a brick for Newpark Comprehensive School is a great way to show your support for this project and all brick purchasers will be added to our wall of donors.
?
The school has pointed out that Newpark is not just a school but also a campus.
The famous Newpark Music School, Newpark Sports Club (where Trojan Swimming Club swim) and Avoca Hockey Club are all located on the site.
“There is also a night school which is run all year,
? the spokesperson added.
“All in all thousands of people use the campus every day so the school and its facilities are crucial to the neighbouring area. Go to www.newparkschool.ie
